NEW LOOK X ROCHELLE HUMES COLLECTION

In September 2019, New Look launched its Rochelle Humes collaboration collection (currently stocked now). This involves coats, trousers, dresses, blazers, tops, jeans, heels and boots reflecting "sleek tailoring, statement prints and softer textures" handpicked by her. Visually, the styles are elegant and mature. However this style contradicts to its average customer being between 16-24 (Mintel Academic, 2019), as consumers this age stereotypically won't dress maturely and instead follow the latest 'younger' trends.

Rochelle, now a brand ambassador for New Look, is a TV presenter for ITV show; 'This Morning' and has been a singer in 'The Saturdays'.

The photoshoot for the collection is arguably very fun and lively, featuring lots of balloons and party decorations as well as bright and lively colours. It also reflects quite a festive aesthetic, and all of the items in the collection are quite wintery which mirrors the season in which the collection came out; September (Autumn/ Winter). In addition, as quite large and elaborate props arse used in the photoshoot is it evident that New Look had quite a large budget for the collection. Meaning that the either expected the collection to do well financially or they wanted to present the collection in the most visually pleasing and impressive way possible (which represents the brands image highly, and possibly moves away from their value-for-money reputation).

Rochelle's collection on the New Look website also includes several quotes said be her. This makes the collection seem more personal and like she had a lot of input into the designs. For example: "I have a few satin dresses in my wardrobe now, you could say that I'm a big fan of them. But what I really love about this one is the high neck and sleeves. It's not like any other satin dress in my wardrobe. The print is lovely, too."
