1990S MOODBOARD
1990s Moodboard
I created this moodboard based on the fashion trends during the 1990s.
I used InDesign for this moodboard, which was the first time I have created one using this programme. I decided to use Indesign as appose to photoshop in order to familiarise myself with it, and experiment with using the different tools, as I have no previous experience using this programme. Initially I can see that it differs in many ways in comparison with photoshop, as you can achieve a completely different visual outcome by using it to create moodboards. For example, I played around with different keyboard shortcuts that work on the programme (such as command D to drop an image into a box), as well as different ways of fitting an image into a box. For instance some images I decided to keep to their original size and therefore only show a small part of it (such as Ashley Olsen's scrunchie) and some images I fitted proportionally into the size of the box so that more of the picture is visible (like Naomi Campbells pink outfit). This achieves a more interesting overall visual effect rather than just showing each picture in it's full form.
Moreover, in regards to comparing Indesign to photoshop, in the case of this moodboard; the images are very rectangular whereas when I have created mood boards using photoshop, I have tended to cut around the people/ items in the images which has led to a more 'collegy' aesthetic.
I chose to base this moodboard on the fashion era of the 1990s as I am very interested in the styles and movements that occurred during this time. I also particularly really like and wear to this day a lot of the clothing trends that were popular back then. This is because the trends have circulated and items that were on trend then are being sold in high street shops in the present day. For example; scrunchies, crop tops and cycle shorts (I have included images of all of these items on this moodboard). I have also included images of iconic people during this time, whether this is for fashion reasons, musical, acting or for being a member of the royal family. All of which had an impact fashion trends during the time.
Of course I should also note that these were not the only iconic people and styles that were prominent during this era. Others include; the rave culture, heroin chic and streetstyle.
