- 'New Look to pull menswear from stores'
- NL are axing the collection in order to make more room for children swear and womenswear
- the collection however will still be available online and sold on their third party sections on Asos and Zalando
- the brand are closing 11 menswear stores
- NL are removing menswear sections from its 160 dual gender stores between April October 2019

- NL are stopping selling menswear in order to free up space for womenswear
- womenswear is a growing market, according to Mintel Womenswear; sales of womenswear rose by 4.1% in 2018 capturing 51.9% of total clothing and accessories sales up from 51.8% in 2017 whereas mens clothing shares of the market fell 27.3% in 2017 to 27.2% in 2018
- minted forecasts the womenswear market to grow by 3.8% in 2019, outpacing menswear by 3.5%
- this graph shows an estimated breakdown of consumer spending on clothes and accessories in 2019
- evidently, men spend significantly less than women, which is probably one of the reasons why New Look have chosen to close down their menswear stores and instead focus on womenswear as they spend a lot more, therefore NL would make more profits and sales

- Mintel Menswear UK 2019 report shows that men have a greater affinity with branded goods when buying clothing than women
- therefore this may be a reason why NL's menswear section has not done so well, as men prefer to buy branded clothing items (which NL is not)
- this graph is to show the most searched e-commerce sites for mens fashion in the UK in 2018 by search query volume
- this is interesting as although NL menswear section has not done very well within the past few years, it is still the 2nd most searched for e-commerce menswear section
- however, this could also show that menswear sections are not doing very well in general, and men prefer to buy their clothes from purely mens shops rather than duel-gender ones

- New Look still has a prominent menswear section on their website, however this is no where near as big as its womenswear range
- for example its mens sections only include; clothing, basics, shoes and boots and accessories whereas its womenswear has many more sections such as going out, maternity, plus, tall and petite
- consequently it is evident that New Look's menswear section is not a priority for them and it may potentially be removed completely from the brand (following its physical store closures), if New look continues to focus on its womenswear range
- this is how some of its products look on the website;
- it is also evident to note that there is a lack of diversity amongst New Look's menswear models, as the vast majority of them are white
- however, a positive for New Look is that they also include plus-size ranges in their menswear which does increase their brand inclusively and diversity
